Bonfiglioli IoT Team

Bonfiglioli's strong focus on digitalization and artificial intelligence led to the birth of an IoT dedicated team in 2017. This department is part of a multicultural, multidisciplinary context, designed as a lean function able to work as a start-up, to fully apply the “fast try, fast fail” concept.

What's the team
goal?

Module subtitle

Their aim is to digitalize Bonfiglioli's products, generating:

  • Innovative hardware enabling the provision of services to customers.
  • Software able to monitor and predict potential failures and the use of the customers’ assets produced by Bonfiglioli.

The team expanded significantly, and today has a dozen very young members, almost all under 30. They come from very different academic backgrounds, they are electronic, mechanical and software engineers, with experience running from start-ups to consulting firms.

Each of them have decided to join the great Bonfiglioli project, with a view to taking on two great, thrilling challenges: the first is to bring bytes and the software world into a company with a very different background, and the second, no less important, is to translate over 60 years of Bonfiglioli know-how into mathematical models and algorithms able to support and serve customers in the digital era, underlining Bonfiglioli’s DNA and its high customer service standards.

We offer ready-to-use and customized IIoT solutions to optimize the productivity and efficiency of our customers’ machines.

From application design to monitoring health conditions and data collection, the R&D team provides support to customers for their sales activities and to allow them to add value to data and speed up development.

What the team
 developed through
those years?

Module subtitle

Over the years the team has launched a number of projects: from sensor-equipped wind turbines to Condition Monitoring on electric fork-lift trucks, extending the capacities of our monitoring systems to third parties and easily integrating them with automotive fieldbuses.  The technological observations resulting from these collaborations have allowed us to design and implement innovative systems that are increasingly able to extrapolate valuable information. We have established partnerships with numerous companies, aiming to speed up the time to market of our ideas and new devices.

Projects for the future?

Some important projects are in the pipeline, but for now they’re secret! Very soon the Mechatronics & IoT department will be launching devices that will give a boost to the Condition Monitoring market, with a technological leap forward that responds to all expressed and unexpressed needs that have yet to be fully satisfied.
